Baby Fenton Growth Chart Calculations

Baby Fenton Growth Chart Calculations
Infant Z-score & Percentiles based on the Fenton preterm infant growth chart
Procedure:
1 Obtain infant's growth parameters in terms of completed weeks of gestation
2 Completed weeks means use the largest number of whole weeks achieved, i.e. if the infant is 30 4/7 weeks of age, then use 30 weeks for the assignment of the Z score.
For the rationale for using the completed weeks, please see the paper behind the growth chart:
A new growth chart for preterm babies: Babson and Benda's chart updated with recent data and a new format
3 Enter the infant's growth parameters into the white measure box beside the correct number of completed weeks.
4 This spreadsheet will calculate the infant's Z score and percentile.
Size for Gestational Age at Birth
The Fenton growth chart does not provide an accurate assessment of gestational age at birth for infants of 37 weeks or older.
It can be used for the assessment of size for gestational age at birth for infants who are smaller than 2.5 kilograms and younger than 37 weeks but not for older infants.
